Framing the Problem:
Girls drop out of school because of inadequate access, spaces, and systems to acquire and dispose of sanitary napkins. This group has ample supplies and women power, they just need a way to get the products to the girls, oh and change cultural and social stigmas as well.
Through interviews and site visits we gathered research, data, outside sources and precedent to the obstacles confronting this group of women who make affordable sanitary napkins for girls in rural India .
The goal of the workshop was to innovate on the business model of a Self Help Group (SHG) of women in Bangalore, India. The SHG made organic sanitary napkins and distributed them to rural girls to prevent them from dropping out of school because of menstruation stigma.
